I was watching this fly and preparing to take a photograph when it suddenly flew off and came back with its struggling prey, a smaller fly. the Empid used one of its long legs as a hook to attach itself to a blade of grass, hanging there as it prepared its supper. Surprisingly, the intended meal managed to escape.
