Wild bird - Avocet (Recurvirostra avosetta) have only started to visit in good numbers, and breed in this region for the last few years. Their efforts have been hampered by drought one year, flooding another year and then predation by large Gulls (eg Herring Gull in this image) The are very defensive parents; Ive seen them make physical contact with much bigger birds in their attempt to protect their offspring. Some battles are lost. Can you spot the juvenile Avocet that has managed to hide? :D
